Employment Experience
To acquire the employment experience needed for overseas jobs in the future, fresh graduates should set their eyes on finding local employment first. DOLE said new graduates need not worry about looking jobs here in the Philippines.
Fresh grads need not look far for employment, says DOLE

MANILA, Philippines -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) today advised new graduates to seek local employment instead of looking overseas so they would not end up jobless for a long time.
Labor Undersecretary Rosalinda Baldoz said local employment remains to be the better option for new graduates at the moment.
Baldoz explained that new graduates will have difficulty finding jobs overseas because they still lack the necessary experience being required by foreign employers.
“For nurses alone, foreign countries require two- to three-year experience working in tertiary hospitals, so new graduates, even if they passed the licensure examination cannot be hired within a year after graduating,” she stressed.
DOLE also said the government, and various colleges and universities are mounting a series of job fairs nationwide.
“DOLE has organized job fairs in the different regions so we could assist our new labor force entrants, primarily the new graduates find productive job opportunities and surmount the global financial crisis,” Labor Secretary Marianito Roque said.
According to Roque, the DOLE’s annual job fairs have benefited new graduates and other job seekers. He said that last year’s job fairs helped over half a million jobseekers.
He said his department has already instructed several regional offices to conduct their own job fairs this year.
The DOLE earlier said it is preparing appropriate measures to prevent a further rise in the unemployment rate, especially with the projected one million college students graduating this summer.

I agree, it is not advisable for fresh graduates to work overseas right away. they may not be fully prepared yet for the challenges of working overseas because of their youth and inexperience.
Mela, thanks for dropping a line. DOLE should be able to provide the jump start for our new gradates' careers.
